What’s New in Moxie – Feature Update

Improved usability, major project management updates, and a smattering of bug fixes and improvements.


Usability Updates - Navigation Improvements

The left nav has been overhauled (again) to improve usability and reduce visual clutter and information overload. There are now two levels to the left nav. The icons on left expansion tray allow switching between areas of the app. Depending on what area of the app you are in, the secondary component of the left nav will be visible with only the contextually relevant links.

Note: Client Favorites are now located in the main "Clients" section of the nav.

  • Hovering over the icons on the left will allow you to click through to the various modules in the application as well as providing access to your Workspace Settings menu.

  • The "More" menu allows you to pin/unpin modules from the left tray allowing customization based on the features of Moxie you are using every day.

  • Clicking the bookmark icon in the breadcrumbs on any page will add a link to your Quick Links section giving you the ability to have a custom left nav section that contains your most commonly accessed features.

Pro Tip: Cmd/Ctrl + M will expand and collapse the secondary menu to get it out of your way. If you aren't a fan of keyboard hotkeys, you can also click the expansion icon next to the universal search to open or close the secondary navigation menu.


Usability Updates - List View Customizations

The core list views within Moxie now support customization of what fields are visible on list screens. Clients, Contacts, Projects and Tasks all support the customization. Any list view that has the gear icon in the upper right supports customization of the data shown in the list / card view. Check or uncheck options to show what's important to you.


Usability Updates - Custom Field Filtering

A new global filtering component has been added to clients, contacts, projects, tasks, and opportunities to allow filtering on the custom fields that have been added to your workspace. Click the Custom filter widget to select your custom field and comparison values.


Meeting Scheduler - Multiple Location Options

You can now give your clients the ability to choose their meeting location preference when booking a meeting. Not everyone wants to meet on a Zoom session, so now you can give the option for Phone or Zoom (or whatever combination you prefer) to allow your clients to book based on their preference.


Project Management - Multiple Project Types / Boards

You now have the ability to add additional project types within the Project management system. You can access your project type settings by clicking Projects --> Project Types. Each project type has its own discrete custom field definitions for Projects and Tasks as well as unique Status values for the tasks within the project management screens.


When creating projects or project templates you can select the project type.


When viewing the task boards, you are able to toggle between your project types by clicking the breadcrumb bar in the top. Changing the view will bring up only the tasks which are associated with the requested project type.

Pro tip: You can migrate a project from one type to another by clicking the project type label in the Project Detail screen.


Project Management - Full Subtask Functionality

The task system has been upgraded to allow full subtask functionality. Subtasks have all of the functionality of a main task, but can be organized, scheduled, and assigned separately. This feature allows additional flexibility in building out your projects and project templates to keep better track of the work required for any particular task.


Project Management - Bulk Updating

The task list views now allow bulk updating of tasks and subtasks. Use the checkboxes to select one or more task. A floating widget will appear at the bottom of the screen with controls available to update various elements of the task or subtask list.

The date update allows you to shift dates (i.e. +1 or -1 week), or to set specific dates based on the calendar.



Project Management - Project owner

You can now specify one or more "Project Owners". Project owners will be notified of all comments on tasks within the projects which they are owners of. They will also be notified of all task status changes for tasks within those projects. This feature allows owners to stay up to date on the activities happening within the projects they are assigned to, without needing to be assigned to each individual task.

In addition, filters have been added to the Project List and Task views to show projects and tasks for projects which the owner is assigned to.


Project Management - Quick Task Creation

When adding task from the list view, you can now quickly create multiple tasks without leaving the list view. Simply click Shift+Enter to add a new task or subtask under the row you are currently editing.


Project Management - Task Priority

A new field for "priority" has been added to tasks to allow tracking of the urgency of a task. The values are Low, Normal, Medium, High, and Urgent. This field can be used for filtering and grouping tasks.

Note: The previous numeric field that was labeled "Priority" has been renamed to "Rank" and is now optional to show in the list view.


Project Management - Private Comments

Comments in the task can now be flagged as private. Private comments will NOT be visible in the client portal views and will only be visible to members within your workspace. Comments with the yellow background are not visible outside of your workspace.

Click the visibility icon when leaving a comment to toggle between public and private.


Project Management - Client Portal Access - Assigned Only

A new option for client portal task access has been added to limit what tasks are visible to your client within the Project Management screens. When this option is activated, the contact logged into your client portal will ONLY see tasks that are currently assigned to them. This will allow you to effectively limit what the client does and does not see within a project when you are collaborating.


Project Management - Client Portal - Custom Email Templates

You now have the ability to customize the emails that are sent to your clients for Approvals, Assignments, and Comments on tasks you are collaborating with the client on.

First build your email template in the Communicator --> Email Templates section and then assign the relevant template in Projects --> Project Types --> Client Notifications


Pro Tip - default templates are available in the Email Template Library in the "Moxie Essentials" section.
