Customize client defaults and custom fields

Set reusable defaults and capture the client information that matters to your business.

Written by Geoff Mina

Client defaults reduce repetitive setup, while custom fields let Moxie capture relationship information specific to your business.

Set defaults for new clients and contacts

  1. Set the default hourly rate, late-payment fee, payment terms, card-fee behavior, and portal-access preference.

  2. Save your changes.

These values apply when a client or contact is created. Existing records remain unchanged unless you deliberately use Update all clients and confirm which values should be overwritten.

Defaults make future client setup faster without silently rewriting existing relationships.

Create custom fields

  1. Select Add field.

  2. Name the field, choose the appropriate type, and review its API key.

  3. Use the preview to confirm how the field will appear.

  4. Save the field.

The editor previews how a custom field will appear when someone edits a client.

Use custom information

Populated client fields appear under Additional details in the client workspace. Custom fields can also participate in supported lists, filters, tokens, imports, and automations. Create contact-specific fields under the Contacts record type instead of placing person-level information on the client.
