Choose the right task view

Switch between table, board, and calendar views while keeping the same task context.

Written by Geoff Mina

The same tasks can answer different questions depending on how you display them. Switch views without duplicating work or changing the task records underneath.

Use Table view for detailed management

Table view is best for scanning and editing many fields, sorting within groups, selecting multiple tasks, and applying bulk actions. It is the most information-dense task view.

Use Board view for workflow

Board view organizes tasks into status columns. Drag a task to another column to update its status, and add work directly in the column where it belongs.

Board view makes workflow bottlenecks and the amount of work in each status immediately visible.

Use Calendar view for timing

Calendar view plots tasks by their dates. Switch between month and week, include or hide weekends and subtasks, and move through time without changing your filters.

Calendar view helps you evaluate workload and timing across projects.

Keep the view focused

Search and filters apply before the selected presentation. Use Focus mode when you need more horizontal space, and use Fields to control table or board detail. Opening a task keeps the current view behind the task panel.
