Make calls and send text messages

Start calls and messages from the phone widget or directly from contact phone numbers throughout Moxie.

Written by Geoff Mina

The Communicator widget keeps calls and text messages available throughout Moxie, so starting a conversation does not require leaving the client, project, invoice, or other record you are working in.

Open the phone

Select the phone icon in the top bar. On a wide desktop, Communicator docks to the right side of Moxie so you can continue working in the page beside it. On a narrower screen, it becomes a full-height slide-over that you can close when you need the space. Separate Calls and Messages modes keep the active conversation available while you move between records.

Closing Communicator does not end an active call or discard the selected text conversation.

Calling from a phone or tablet

Moxie voice does not run in a mobile web browser. The new native Moxie mobile app will provide the full incoming and outgoing calling experience on phones and tablets. Until it is available, text messaging remains accessible in the mobile browser through the Messages tab.

Make a call

  1. Choose Calls.

  2. Search for a contact or enter a complete phone number.

  3. Select Start call.

  4. During the call, use mute, keypad, or recording when appropriate.

  5. Select End call when finished.

To reclaim the workspace during a call, close the full panel. A compact call bar remains visible with the contact, elapsed time, mute control, and end-call control. Select the contact area in that bar to reopen the complete phone.

Recent calls appear below the dialer, including missed, inbound, and outbound outcomes. Selecting a recent call prepares a callback.

Send a text message

  1. Choose Messages.

  2. Open an existing conversation or select the new-message control.

  3. Search for a known contact or enter a complete phone number directly.

  4. Write the message and add an optional media attachment.

  5. Send the message and review its delivery status in the conversation.

Choose whether incoming texts make a sound

Open Settings → Communications → Phone & messaging and use Play a sound for incoming text messages. This preference belongs to the current browser, so you can keep sound on at one workstation and turn it off on another.

The sound is an in-app alert and requires Moxie to be open. For notifications when no Moxie tab is open, enable browser push from My profile → Notifications.

Start from a phone number

Clickable phone numbers throughout Moxie can open Communicator directly in call or message mode with the person already selected. This is the fastest way to contact someone while preserving the context of the record you were viewing.

Review a communication without leaving your work

Communication history on a contact, a client's related Communications page, and an opportunity's activity can open the complete email, text, or call in a side panel. Close the panel to return to the same record and position. Use Inbox when you want the full queue and filtering workspace.

Incoming calls

An incoming-call notification appears first. The full phone widget opens only after you accept the call. Ignoring or declining the call does not interrupt the current workspace.
