Resolve Microsoft / Office 365 email connection errors

Reconnect Microsoft email and check tenant SMTP settings when Microsoft blocks sending.

Written by Geoff Mina

Microsoft email errors usually mean the account authorization expired or the Microsoft 365 tenant blocks the sending method the mailbox requires.

  1. Confirm whether the problem affects the automated sender, the Inbox mailbox, or both.

  2. Reconnect Microsoft from the matching Email settings section.

  3. If Microsoft still rejects sending, ask the Microsoft 365 administrator to review the mailbox and tenant's authenticated SMTP policy.

  4. For Microsoft 365 purchased through GoDaddy, follow GoDaddy's current SMTP-authentication guidance.

Automated sending and two-way Inbox connections are separate; reconnect the one reporting the error.

Do not weaken organization-wide Microsoft security controls without administrator review. If policy prevents the connection, use a supported Google or SMTP sender instead.
