Create and manage tasks

Plan work, maintain ownership and due dates, and move tasks through your workflow.

Written by Geoff Mina

Tasks translate a project plan into specific work. Moxie keeps ownership, status, due dates, priority, client context, and project context visible so you can update work without opening every task.

Create a task

Select New task from the Tasks page, use the universal + menu, or add a task directly inside a status group or project workspace. Set the client and project when the task belongs to an engagement; Moxie keeps those relationships consistent.

Maintain work from the table

The task table supports direct editing for the fields you use most often. Select a status, assignee, due date, or priority in place. Rename a task from the row, or use its action menu for subtasks, conversion, archive, and delete actions.

Tasks are grouped into clear workflow sections, and common fields can be updated without leaving the table.

Task tables, boards, and calendars keep current-year dates compact. Dates outside the current year include the year so historical and future work stays clear.

Use filters and fields

  • Filter narrows the workspace by project, status, assignee, or an operational due-date window such as Overdue, Due today, Next 7 days, or No due date. Choose Me for your work or Unassigned for tasks that still need an owner.

  • Fields controls the visible standard and custom-field columns.

  • The group control changes how tasks are divided without changing the underlying records.

  • Column headings sort tasks within their groups.

Save a task view

After choosing filters and arranging the workspace, open All tasks and select Save current view. Give the view a name and optionally make it your default. A saved view remembers the project type, filters, table or board layout, grouping, visible fields, and table sort. Search text is not saved.

Open the saved-view menu again to switch views, save changes, reset the current view, rename it, or choose a different default. Moxie keeps your current view when you navigate elsewhere and return during the same session. After a full reload, it opens your default view. Saved views are personal to your Moxie user and follow you across devices.

Pro Tip: bookmark a task view

Each selected saved view has its own URL. Select the view you want, then bookmark the page in your browser to return to Tasks with that view already selected. Because task views are personal, use the bookmark while signed in to the Moxie account that created the view.

Complete work without losing history

Move a task into the project type’s designated complete status. A completed task remains part of project progress and history and can be reopened by moving it back into an active status.
