Project templates turn a repeatable delivery process into a reusable starting point. A template can carry the project type, portal settings, pricing, description, tasks, relative task dates, subtasks, to-dos, assignments, and files into a new project.
Create a template
Open Settings → Templates → Projects.
Select New template and give it a recognizable outcome-based name.
On Overview, choose the project type, fill in any project fields for that type, and set the description, client portal behavior, and fee schedule.
On Tasks, add the work the template should create.
Save the template.
Each task date is measured from the future project’s start date, making one template reusable across different calendars.
Project fields in the template come from its selected project type. Their saved values are copied to each new project created from the template.
Build a useful task plan
Drag tasks to establish their order. Each task can include an initial status, assignment, priority, relative due date, description, to-dos, files, and repetition settings. The template summary shows the total task count and the final relative due date.
Project and task template descriptions use the same rich-text controls as live projects and tasks, including headings, text color, tables, direct HTML editing, and the choice between clean paste and Paste with styling.
Personalize projects with tokens
Type {{ in the default project name or in a task or subtask name to open the token library. The same library is available from project, task, and subtask descriptions and from task to-dos. Search by continuing to type, then select a token with the pointer or keyboard.
Project-template tokens can use workspace, client, contact, current date and time, portal, scheduler, and form information. Moxie uses this common library so a template behaves the same when you select it manually, run it from a workflow automation, or create its project from a signed agreement. The replacement also applies to recurring tasks, their subtasks, and their to-dos.
A warning below a field identifies a complete token that will not be replaced. Choose a token from the library to preserve its exact spelling and capitalization.
Continue typing after the double braces to filter the shared token library.
The template list makes its project type, size, timeline, and pricing visible before you use it.
Use the template
Start a new project and select Start from a template. Choose the template, client, and project start date. Search clients by name in the client picker, which also shows their avatars. Moxie calculates task dates from the start date and defaults the project end date to the latest task or subtask due date. You can set a different project end date without changing the task dates, or select Use calculated date to restore the default. You can also save an existing project as a template or import template tasks into an existing project when those actions are available.
