Import, roll back, and export workspace data

Map and review CSV imports, inspect durable history, roll back carefully, and export the workspace.

Written by Geoff Mina

Data import / export helps you bring existing records into Moxie, review or roll back an import, and download a complete workspace copy.

Import records in three stages

  1. Choose data: select Clients, Contacts, Opportunities, Projects, Tasks, Invoices, Expenses, Vendors, or Time worked, then upload a CSV.

  2. Map columns: review automatic matches, parsing choices, relationship options, and any available custom fields.

  3. Review: inspect the preview and confirm the import only when the mappings produce the intended values.

Uploading a CSV does not create records; creation begins only after you review and confirm the import.

Choose the right import behavior

Client and Contact imports can create only, create and merge, or merge only. Other record types can offer relationship options such as creating missing client or project context. Repeated invoice numbers may become line items on a single invoice, so inspect the preview when importing financial history.

Review results and roll back

Import history records who ran each import, when it ran, its type and mode, successful rows, and rejections. Download rejected rows when you need to correct and retry them. Rollback is destructive and requires an exact confirmation; related-record options appear only when the import supports them.

Export the workspace

The Export tab downloads a complete Excel workbook generated by Moxie. Because it can contain sensitive client and business information, workspace export is owner-only. Store exported files using the same care you apply to the live workspace.
