Add an authenticator app or passkey to protect password and magic-link sign-ins with a second verification step.
IMPORTANT: Enabling an authenticator app or passkey will prevent you from signing in to the legacy Moxie web app and legacy mobile app. Enable these security methods only when you are ready to use Moxie V4 for browser access.
Before you begin
Authenticator apps generate a rotating six-digit code. You can use 1Password, Google Authenticator, Authy, or another app that supports time-based codes.
Passkeys let you verify with a fingerprint, face, device PIN, or compatible password manager. Support depends on your browser and device.
These methods protect password and magic-link sign-ins. Google, Microsoft, and Apple sign-in continue to use the security configured with those providers.
A passkey registered for Moxie V4 can be used at both create.withmoxie.com and beta.withmoxie.com.
Authenticator and passkey controls live in My profile alongside your other personal sign-in settings.
Set up an authenticator app
Open Settings → My profile → My info.
Find Authenticator app and select Set up.
Scan the QR code with your authenticator app. If you cannot scan it, use the displayed setup key instead.
Enter the six-digit code generated by the app, then select Enable.
After setup, Moxie shows the authenticator as enabled. Keep access to the authenticator app before signing out or changing devices.
Add a passkey
Open Settings → My profile → My info.
Find Passkeys and select Add passkey.
Give the passkey a recognizable name, such as “MacBook,” “iPhone,” or “1Password.”
Select Continue and complete the verification requested by your browser, device, or password manager.
Each passkey appears in the list with its name and creation date. You can add more than one so another trusted device or password manager is available when needed.
Use MFA or a passkey when signing in
Begin with your password or a magic link as usual. When the account has additional security enabled, Moxie asks you to choose an available verification method. Complete the authenticator, passkey, or verified-SMS step to finish signing in.
Signing in with Google, Microsoft, or Apple does not display the Moxie verification chooser because that provider is responsible for authenticating the session.
Disable or remove a method
Return to Settings → My profile → My info. Disabling an authenticator requires a current six-digit code. To remove a passkey, select its delete icon and confirm the removal.
Before removing a method, confirm that you still have another sign-in and verification option available. Removing a passkey from Moxie does not necessarily remove its saved entry from your device or password manager.
Troubleshooting
A passkey option is unavailable: update your browser or try a device and browser that support passkeys.
An authenticator code is rejected: confirm the device clock is set automatically, then enter the newest code before it expires.
The legacy app no longer accepts your sign-in: use Moxie V4 in your browser, or disable the authenticator and remove passkeys from My profile if continued legacy access is required.
You lost access to every verification method: contact Moxie Support for account-recovery help.
