Work with a client’s related records

Use full client-filtered module views without losing list preferences or navigation context.

Written by Geoff Mina

Related records turn the client workspace into a shortcut to complete, client-filtered module views rather than a collection of small preview cards.

Choose a related category

Open a client and use Related records to choose projects, time, invoices, payment plans, recurring schedules, payments, expenses, opportunities, agreements, tickets, forms, meetings, communications, or files.

Every row in the Related records navigator is a clickable shortcut to a complete list view filtered to that client. The value at the right shows the most useful available summary for that category: a record count, time duration, or currency total. Tasks are intentionally accessed through Projects at the client level.

Select any Related records row to open that module’s full list experience, already scoped to the current client.

Work in a full client-filtered view

Each related page uses the same rich table, status treatment, columns, and record interactions as the corresponding main module. A lightweight KPI row summarizes the client-specific records without adding an unnecessary trend chart. The KPI cards remain visible when a category has no matching records, so the available ways to review the client stay predictable.

When a KPI represents a useful subset of the records, select it to apply that filter immediately. The selected card is highlighted, and the standard Filter control shows the active choice so you can review or clear it. Selecting the highlighted KPI again also removes its quick filter.

Client projects begin with Active selected so completed work does not crowd the everyday view. Clear the Active selection in Filter to include completed projects.

Related pages also inherit each module's operational default order: recent financial and activity records appear newest-first, recurring schedules appear by next run, and named libraries remain alphabetical. Your saved table sort can override that default independently on each related page.

The Active quick filter keeps current projects prominent while making the filter easy to see, change, or clear.

Open a record without losing context

Items normally managed in a right modal open over the related page. Full-page records open with a return path back to the client. Your filters in the main business-wide module remain unchanged because client-related views keep their own presentation state.

Create a related record

Use the + action on a related page to start the module’s normal creation experience with the client already selected. Contact-dependent actions ask which client contact to use.
