Configure the pipeline to match the sales process your team actually uses. Stage order and type affect the board, forecast, close behavior, and any follow-up to-dos added when an opportunity moves.
Configure stages
Open Settings → Sales pipeline → Stages.
Drag stages into the order opportunities should follow.
Give each stage a clear name and color.
Choose the correct stage type: new, in progress, on hold, won, lost, or complete.
Add or remove stages as your process changes.
The stage type drives business behavior; the label and color make the process familiar to your team.
Understand stage behavior
Entering a won stage stamps the close date and can promote a prospect to a client. Lost, on-hold, won, and complete stages leave the open pipeline. Because these types affect forecasts and records, do not use a won type merely because you like its visual treatment.
Add default to-dos
Open Default to-dos to define repeatable follow-up. Add items that should appear on every new opportunity or each time a deal enters a particular stage.
Stage-based to-dos are added every time an opportunity enters that stage.
Keep automation useful
Default to-dos should represent consistent next actions, not every possible sales task. Use a short, action-oriented label so the owner immediately understands what needs to happen.
